Uganda will not only leave the Afrobasket 2023 with a 7th place finish but with player recognition too especially Jannon Jaye Otto.

The Gazelle was named on the Afrobasket 2023 team of the tournament as the best forward and also won the tournament’s top scorer award after she scored 128 points in the six games she featured in.

Otto received the awards on Saturday after Nigeria claimed a fourth straight title following their 84-74 win over Senegal in the Afrobasket final at the BK Arena.

The Gazelles who were making a third appearance at the Afrobasket after 1997 and 2015 beat Guinea 85-44 to seal a 7th place finish their best ever at the showpiece.
