Kalamagi Memorial Stadium (KMS)

Kalamagi Memorial Stadium (KMS) is a premier and most-versatile convention, sports, and entertainment complex in Mpigi District found 52km on the Kampala – Masaka Highway. The KMS is uniquely comprised of a 100,000-seater capacity stadium with a track and field facility to host IAAF events, conferences halls, office space, basketball & volleyball courts, lawn tennis court, table tennis, gardens and plenty of parking space. The Stadium operates hostel facilities and 300 room five-star hotel. At the KMS adaptability, hospitality and distinct service all meet to provide a world-class experience. The uniqueness of KMS is apparent in the flexibility of its facilities, with each offering different opportunities to host all kinds of events.

Kalamagi Memorial Stadium Limited (KMSL) was incorporated as a limited liability company, private limited by shares in 2023. The company’s shares are owned by the Kalamagi family charged with the responsibility of developing and managing the Kalamagi Memorial Stadium (KMS) project.

The children of Mr. Kalamagi Kalim, – Bukenya Ismail, Nabukeera Faridah, Businge Moses, Namatovu Shifrah Hawa, Buyinza Isaac, Mirembe Janet, Nalubega Shakirah, Ayebare Jamie, Buyinza Jaban, Tusubira Jamara, Magezi Jibran, Kamoga Jaram, Agaba Jareed, Birungi Jahanah, Mukisa Josia, and Namatovu Jabirah named the Stadium – Kalamagi Memorial Stadium (KMS) in honor of their father. A businessman, committed to supporting the communities, and his religion.

The Kalamagi Family availed 23 acres of land in Butenga Village, Kanyike Parish, Kamengo Sub County, Mpigi District for the establishment of a Memorial Stadium in honor of their father Mr. Kalamagi Kalim at a cost US $50bn from the G-54C Public Markets Group Africa.

The KMS is a multi-purpose stadium situated in Kamengo-Mpigi District at 52km on the Kampala – Masaka Highway, is one of the greatest architectural pieces since Namboole Stadium focusing on turning sports and entertainments events into intimate experiences, with the largest capacity in Uganda and Africa and among the top ten largest football stadiums in the world, with a seating capacity of 100,000.

The stadium is available to host major sporting and entertainment events such as concerts, festivals, exhibitions, mass prayers, and conventions among others.

The KMS project is expected to be part of the facilities for the Joint hosting of the African Cup of Nations in 2027. The facility is a family project based on the needs assessment done on the sports infrastructure in the country. The country still has a sports and entertainment facilities deficit. Therefore, the Kalamagi family identified the opportunity to participate in the sports infrastructure development of the country. The family availed 23 acres of land in Butenga Village, Kanyike Parish, Kamengo Sub County, Mpigi District in Uganda for the establishment of a Memorial Stadium in honor of their father Mr. Kalamagi Kalim at a cost US $50bn from the G-54C Public Markets Group Africa.

The stadium has the largest capacity in Uganda and Africa and is one of the top ten largest football stadiums in the world. The stadium is built with the seating capacity of 100,000. The facility will host some of the games of the African cup of nations 2027, the African Cup/champion league finals, African Cup winners and various Confederation of African Football (CAF) Championships. The Stadium will host Championships of various disciplines such as Volleyball, Basketball, and netball. It will also host other events such as concerts, mass prayers, conventions of political parties among others.

The motivation of KMS is to create memorable sporting, recreational and entertainment activities by providing an ultra-modern stadium with adequate sporting facilities for both local and international events. KMSL commits to:

  1. Offer the greatest architectural piece focusing on turning sports and entertainments events into intimate experiences that are memorable and exceptional;
  2. Advance organizational flexibility and corporate governance through the quality of human resource;
  3. Advance the partnerships and associations with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of Government to be able to create prospects for KMS and optimize the use of KMSL’s facilities; and
  4. Maximize the return on investment of KMSL by continually increasing the portfolio of facilities at the stadium.

KMS is situated at Kamengo in Butenga Village, Kanyike Parish, Kamengo Sub County, Mpigi District, 52km along the Kampala – Masaka Highway. The stadium seats within the intersection of the Kampala – Masaka Highway and Kampala – Mpigi expressway.

Transport Connections

The KMS is served by a network routes, a ring road around the stadium to ensure that all the gates are easily accessed. The ring road also connects the Kampala – Masaka highway to the Kampala – Mpigi expressway.

The stadium is accessible from Kampala by road through the Kampala – Masaka highway which is about 50km.

The stadium is accessible from Masaka by road through the Masaka – Kampala highway which is about 56miles or 96km.

The alternative route will be the Kampala – Mpigi expressway, a 40.4km four lane dual carriage highway which is currently under construction.

With support from the Government of Uganda we shall work to ensure that Kampala – Mpigi expressway is connected to the Kampala-Entebbe expressway to further enhance connectivity.

Governance KMSL’s governance structure has a Board of Directors who are charged with an advisory responsibility of governing the stadium.

Our Board of Directors is the Management Team headed by the CEO in charge of the day to day activities and operations of the stadium. The governance structure is designed to strengthen the governance of the stadium.
